Ghost mantis, Phyllocrania paradoxa

Check out who just molted! I think this puts Greta at sub-adult stage, judging by her size and her wingbuds — I’m not sure what instar she was when I got her. Her green just keeps deepening with each molt!

The wingbuds look a tad small for sub adult, usually they overlap quite a lot. She’s a fantastic colour, very vibrant.

This morning I noticed one of my male Phyllocrania paradoxa has some really strange colouring. He’s almost pink in some areas.

So I was releasing those caterpillars I found into my backyard and Jorge and I found this INCREDIBLE moth chilling next to the porch light.
Naturally, we took it inside to take pictures of it. It promptly played dead to trick us into eating it. Fool me once.

uhmm?!?!

Who can help me identify this caterpillar? I found him crawling on my pants and so naturally I picked him up with a stick and started taking pictures and filming him. Google didn’t yield much. I found him on the Stanford university campus. Right after taking this picture I found a second one! I’m interested to see what they might turn into after metamorphosis.
Sorry for poor video quality. On my iPhone.

Can never resist taking photos of mantises when I find them and they’re willing to climb up onto my hand.
